The Astir CS

BUGC is privileged to have is very own a single-seat, Astir CS glider (pictured right). The glider is free to fly for all BUGC members, who have soloed and have built up a few hours of solo flying (around 5 hours is normally adequate). Note that standard Nympsfield launch fees still apply.

The Astir CS (Club Standard) is a standard class sailplane, manufactured by Grob Aerospace in Germany. It is traditionally noted as being easy to fly, making it ideal for less experienced solo pilots looking to increase their flight hours and improve their piloting skills.

The glider callsign is "HXM" and it can usually be found in Nympsfield’s South Hangar, along with towing out gear. The glider trailer can be found in the trailer queue on the North side of the field, registration plate "N581XEG".  Please notify BUGC if you wish to fly the Astir. Also, be sure that Nympsfield knows you are a university member, or they may charge you for soaring time!
