BUGC is proud to be affiliated with the Bristol & Gloucestershire Gliding Club. BGGC provides us with a fantastic base of operations, sizeable student flying discounts and a home for BUGCs Astir CS Glider.

2 BGGC is a premier gliding institution within the UK and its regulars include several of the world’s top glider pilots. The facilities are excellent and there are plenty of instructors available 7 days a week. The club provides several trainer gliders, with the most common being the AS-K13 (pictured left), as well as single-seater gliders, including the AS-K8 and the LS4 for solo pilots.

3BGGC operates out of Nympsfield Airfield, located approximately 40 miles North of Bristol in a particularly scenic area of the Cotswold foothills. Its location atop a long, narrow ridge (pictured right) provides pilots with a challenging and exciting gliding arena, as well as spectacular views of the river Severn.

To fly regularly at Nympsfield, you must join BGGC as a student member. All memberships at the club are renewed at the start of April and the cost for a whole year’s membership will start at around £77 and reduce each month. For a full breakdown of prices, see the prices page.

To book a day of gliding at the club, it is important to phone in advance to ensure that a place will be reserved for you on the day. Also, try to get there early (9am-ish) and allow 50 minutes driving time from Bristol.
